Just two nomads taking life one day at a time on the road.

Life update from the husband and Meet Larry the Ford F-350!

So, what’s it like these days? Nearly 2 months have gone by since we left our office jobs and our sticks-n-bricks to experience the freedom of full-time RV life. We spent the first month stationary and workamping while exploring Williamsburg as we waited for our sticks-n-bricks to close. When the house closed, we decided to elevate our workamping experience and moved further to the Chesapeake Bay region and we definitely were not disappointed. We have not been plagued by repairs we couldn’t manage, and our lot is a step up for our pups with plenty of open space.

The downside to open space means less shade coverage which has engaged us with an ongoing feud with the summer sun and our single ac unit installed on our 30a bumper pull, the recent heat wave did not help our cause much nor did the discovery of the closed vent on the ceiling return (rookie mistake). As much as we want to make upgrades to our TT, it is essentially not in our favor as we both know we will be upgrading to a 5th wheel when our credit rebounds from the Ford F-350 Lariat we just bought about a week ago and paying off debt from the proceeds of the sale of our home.

We are also contracted at the resort until the town celebrates its annual Oyster Festival in November and that is far from a bad thing. We have access to so many amenities within the resort as well as bodies of water for fishing, the unfortunate part is that the amount of bait we go through due to crabs should be criminal. It is only a matter of time before we start landing these crabs and making good use of them.

Since the Ford F-350 is a recent addition, let’s talk briefly about the puller upgrade and why we scraped the F-250 build we preordered. We drove a little less than 2 hours to the suburbs of DC to look at a few diesel options in that area. We found the F-350 at a Toyota dealership and then there was an F-450 at a Ford dealership nearby. We didn’t make it to the Ford dealership because we fell in love with the F-350 and all its bells and whistles with the Lariat package. The F-450 was essentially just a base model with few interior upgrades, the F-250 preorder was likely not going to be ready when we were scheduled to head to our next destination, and we couldn’t chance being limited when it was time to hit the road.

The F-350 checked all the boxes we planned for except rear lockers, but with the addition of the dual rear wheels, the lockers became obsolete in my opinion. We also got out from being upside down on our Mustang which wasn’t going to happen with the F-250 and is a huge benefit decreasing our worries about selling privately along with the Titan.

Overall, we are loving our new truck Larry and are excited about the possibilities this opens up for us! We are currently seeking out our next workcamping assignment in either Florida or Arizona, so if you know of anyone that needs help in either of those areas let us know! We can’t wait to see where Larry will take us next!

Until next time,
